Pakistan says a peace agreement is ready for signing, while Tehran has yet to comment on the announcement.
U.S. President Donald Trump has declared that an agreement between the United States and Iran to end the conflict has been reached. He made the announcement on his social media platform, Truth Social.
"The deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete," Trump wrote.
According to the U.S. president, he has also authorized the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to international shipping and ordered the immediate lifting of the U.S. naval blockade in the region.
An official signing ceremony is scheduled for June 19 in Switzerland, according to Al Jazeera.
Earlier, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that the parties had agreed on the final text of the peace deal and were preparing for its formal signing.
However, Iran has not yet confirmed Trump’s claim that negotiations have concluded and an agreement has been finalized. No official response from Tehran to the U.S. president’s latest statement has been issued so far.
The details of the potential agreement between Washington and Tehran have not yet been officially disclosed.
