The European Super League, which aimed to rival UEFA competitions, suffered another setback during the Champions League match between Barcelona and PSG.
According to Marca via RAC1, Barcelona could leave Real Madrid alone in its attempts to launch the Super League. Concerns over Barcelona’s intentions were fueled by a photo showing club president Joan Laporta with UEFA president Aleksander Čeferin and PSG owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi at the Montjuïc stadium during the match.
Negotiations between Barcelona and UEFA have reportedly intensified, raising the possibility of a reconciliation. The club is seriously considering exiting the Super League project and returning to the European Club Association (ECA), while Real Madrid continues its push against UEFA.
The Super League’s proposed launch date was recently announced, with its director highlighting advantages over the Champions League, but Barcelona’s potential withdrawal marks another blow to the controversial project.
