On Friday, October 10, Kazakhstan hosted Liechtenstein in a 2026 World Cup qualifying match and confirmed their status as favorites with a commanding 4-0 victory.
In the first half, the visitors conceded twice within three minutes. Forward Kenzhenbek opened the scoring, followed by midfielder Zainutdinov doubling the lead. Liechtenstein tried to turn the game around in the second half, but Kazakhstan added two more goals to secure a comprehensive win.
Kenzhenbek completed his brace in the 59th minute, and defender Alibek Kasym capped off the scoring late in the match. With this victory, Kazakhstan claimed their second win in six matches and remains fourth in Group J.
Talghat Baisufinov’s side still has slim chances of finishing second, which would allow them to reach the playoff stage. They must beat Belgium and North Macedonia and hope other results go in their favor.
