As of October 17, Ukraine’s national football team has risen from 28th to 27th place in the latest FIFA men’s world rankings, according to data published by the International Football Federation. Spain remains in first place, while Argentina has moved up to second, overtaking France.
Following Ukraine’s 5–3 victory over Iceland in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and a 2–1 win against Azerbaijan, the team earned +12.3 ranking points, moving ahead of Canada, which dropped to 28th.

FIFA also noted that Niger jumped nine spots in the ranking, while the Faroe Islands gained the most points (+37.95). Greece fell eight positions, and Sweden lost the most points during this period (–27.63).
The FIFA ranking is used to assess national teams’ performance and influences tournament seedings, draw allocations, and competition brackets in international football.
