Ukrainian Champion Kremenchuk Crashes Out of Continental Cup After 0–11 Defeat
Ukrainian team Kremenchuk suffered a crushing 0–11 loss to Romania’s Gyergyói HK in the final group-stage match of the Continental Cup’s first round on October 19, failing to advance to the next stage.
Earlier in the tournament, Kremenchuk secured its first-ever victory in the competition by defeating Hungary’s Budapest Academy (3–2) and then dominated Serbia’s Crvena Zvezda (12–0).
With this win, Gyergyói HK topped the group after winning all three of its matches, moving on to the next round.
Kremenchuk had previously competed in the Continental Cup twice but lost all its games on both occasions. In April, the club claimed its second national championship title in Ukraine.
For reference, in 2013, Donbass Donetsk became the first Ukrainian team in history to win the Continental Cup.
