Russian forces launched an overnight drone attack on Ukraine, with around 19 strikes recorded, while most of the aerial targets were shot down by air defense systems.
According to Ukraine’s Air Force on Telegram, Russia attacked during the night of March 2 using 94 strike drones, including Shahed, Gerbera and Italmass types, as well as other UAVs. The drones were launched from several directions: Oryol, Millerovo, Shatalovo and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, as well as Hvardiiske in temporarily occupied Crimea. About 70 of them were Shahed drones.
The aerial assault was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems forces and mobile fire groups of Ukraine’s Defense Forces. Preliminary data as of 08:00 indicate that air defenses shot down or suppressed 84 enemy drones across northern, southern and eastern regions of the country.
At the same time, authorities recorded hits by 10 attack drones at four locations, while debris from intercepted drones fell in two other areas.
“The attack is ongoing, and several enemy drones remain in the airspace. Please follow safety rules,” the Air Force said.
