Russian forces launched a ballistic missile and more than a hundred drones at Ukraine overnight, with most aerial targets destroyed by air defenses, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on Telegram.
“On the night of Feb. 18, the enemy attacked with one Iskander-M ballistic missile launched from the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea, as well as 126 strike UAVs, including Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, and other types of drones. About 80 of them were Shaheds,” the statement said.
The overnight assault was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare teams, drone units, and mobile fire groups of Ukraine’s Defense Forces. According to preliminary data as of 08:30, air defenses shot down or suppressed 100 enemy drones across northern, southern, and eastern regions.
At the same time, hits were recorded from the ballistic missile and 23 attack drones at 14 locations, while debris from downed targets fell in three areas.
“The attack is ongoing, several enemy UAVs remain in the air. Follow safety rules,” the Air Force added.
Russian forces continue nightly strikes on Ukraine using attack drones and various types of missiles, including ballistic ones.
On Feb. 17, Russia carried out another large-scale strike on Ukrainian infrastructure using attack drones, strategic aviation, and cruise missiles. Explosions were reported in Odesa, Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Burshtyn, Zaporizhzhia, and other cities.
According to the Air Force, the attackers launched 29 missiles of various types and 396 drones. Four ballistic missile impacts and 18 drone strikes were recorded. Preliminary data as of 09:30 indicated that 392 aerial targets were shot down or suppressed by air defenses.
