A fresh overnight strike on Russian oil infrastructure has been reported in the Republic of Bashkortostan, with the target located approximately 1,400 kilometers (870 miles) from Ukraine's border in a straight line.
According to the Telegram channel Exilenova+, the Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat complex came under attack, reportedly by drones.
Local residents said they heard multiple explosions at the facility. Videos and eyewitness reports circulating online indicate a fire and heavy smoke on the plant's premises following the strike.
As of now, regional Russian authorities have not officially commented on the reported attack.
About the facility
Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat is one of Russia's largest oil refining and petrochemical complexes. The enterprise includes an oil refinery, a gas-processing and petrochemical plant, and the Monomer production facility.
The complex operates a full-cycle hydrocarbon processing chain and manufactures more than 150 different products, including:
- gasoline;
- diesel fuel;
- fuel oil;
- bitumen;
- polyethylene;
- ammonia;
- urea.
Background
The reported strike follows a series of Ukrainian long-range drone attacks targeting Russia's energy infrastructure.
Earlier the same night, the Afipsky Oil Refinery in Russia's Krasnodar region was also reportedly attacked, with a fire observed at the site.
Repeated strikes on Russian refineries have disrupted domestic fuel production, contributing to growing fuel supply challenges inside Russia.
