A Russian strike using guided aerial bombs hit a residential neighborhood in Zaporizhzhia, killing two people and injuring at least 10 others, regional governor Ivan Fedorov said.
The attack destroyed two floors of a five-story apartment building and damaged a nearby nine-story residential block, blowing out windows and balconies. A logistics terminal caught fire, while nearby private homes also sustained significant damage.
People were trapped beneath the rubble of the apartment building, and emergency crews carried out search and rescue operations to free survivors. All those injured are receiving medical treatment.
Rescuers, medics and other emergency services remain at the scene, while authorities continue to assess the full extent of the damage and casualties.
Zaporizhzhia has been subjected to frequent Russian strikes in recent weeks, with guided bombs, drones and missiles repeatedly targeting residential areas and civilian infrastructure.
