Kyrylo Budanov said there has been no political breakthrough yet in negotiations with Russia aimed at ending the war in Ukraine.
According to him, the next round of talks could take place later this week. He noted that progress is slow and most details remain behind the scenes, with Ukrainians likely seeing only the final outcome.
Budanov said there are currently two possible scenarios: either the negotiations lead to ending the war, or they fail and the fighting continues.
He also noted that the Russian delegation has been behaving in a restrained manner during the talks and generally follows diplomatic protocol despite major disagreements between the sides.
At the same time, Budanov expressed hope that another prisoner exchange could take place this week and said more captives may be released than during the previous swap.
