Russian forces attacked Ukraine overnight on October 2 with 108 strike drones launched from four directions, including 47 jet-powered Shaheds, Ukraine’s Air Force said.
The attack involved Shahed drones, Gerbera drones and Parodiya decoys launched from Bryansk and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, as well as temporarily occupied parts of Donetsk region and Crimea.
Ukrainian aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups were involved in repelling the attack.
As of 8 a.m., Ukrainian air defenses had shot down or suppressed 88 Shahed, Gerbera and other drones, according to preliminary data.
Russian air attack weapons were recorded hitting 11 locations, while debris from downed drones fell at five locations. The Air Force said the attack was still ongoing, with several Russian drones remaining in Ukrainian airspace.
Attack on Kyiv
The overnight attack also targeted Kyiv. One person was killed and two others were injured, while a 25-story residential building in the Darnytskyi district was damaged, according to Kyiv authorities.
Russian drones also struck the Southern Bridge for a second consecutive day, prompting restrictions on traffic across bridges over the Dnipro River.
In the Holosiivskyi district, drone debris damaged windows of a non-residential building and several cars. No fire or casualties were reported there.
