Russian forces struck a bridge across the Dnipro River in Zaporizhzhia on the morning of October 6, temporarily halting traffic and injuring at least five people, according to local authorities.
The initial report said two men, aged 43 and 54, were injured and taken to hospital in light condition. By 7:45 a.m., the number of injured had risen to five, including two women aged 24 and 59 and another 36-year-old man.
The bridge was temporarily closed while authorities assess the extent of the damage. The first two injured men were identified as Red Cross workers who were on their way to work when the attack occurred.
The strike comes amid a series of Russian attacks on bridges over the Dnipro in Kyiv. On October 1, Russian drones targeted the Southern Bridge, damaging part of its supporting structure and roadway. On October 3, the Northern Bridge was also damaged, including its road surface and trolleybus network.
