Russia launched a large-scale overnight attack on Ukraine using ballistic missiles, guided air-launched missiles, and 121 attack drones, Ukraine's Air Force said on July 11.
According to the military, the assault included six Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles launched from Russia's Bryansk region, four Kh-59/69 guided air-launched missiles fired from occupied Crimea, two Kh-31 anti-radiation missiles launched over the Black Sea, and 121 Shahed attack drones, decoy drones, and other unmanned aerial vehicles launched from multiple locations in Russia and occupied Ukrainian territory.
As of 8:30 a.m. local time, Ukrainian air defenses had shot down or electronically suppressed 111 drones and intercepted two Kh-59/69 guided missiles.
The Air Force reported that ballistic missiles, two guided missiles, and seven drones struck targets at 11 locations. Debris from intercepted aerial targets fell at three additional sites.
The military said information on the two Kh-31 anti-radiation missiles is still being verified. No immediate reports of casualties or damage linked to those missiles were available.
"The attack is ongoing. Several enemy drones remain in Ukrainian airspace. Follow safety rules," the Air Force said.
Earlier in the night, Russia launched another ballistic missile attack on Kyiv, where strikes were reported in several districts of the capital. Local authorities said 10 people, including a child, were injured.
Ukraine has repeatedly warned of a shortage of interceptor missiles capable of destroying ballistic targets. Officials have said Patriot air defense systems have been switched from automatic to manual mode to conserve limited supplies of anti-ballistic missiles.
