Russia launched 205 attack drones at Ukraine overnight on October 5, including 49 jet-powered Shaheds, Ukraine’s Air Force said.
The Russian forces also used Gerbera drones, Banderol/Dan-T UAVs and Parodiya decoy drones. The drones were launched from Orel, Kursk, Shatalovo, Millerovo and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, as well as from temporarily occupied Donetsk and Hvardiiske in Crimea.
Ukrainian aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces were involved in repelling the attack.
As of 8 a.m., Ukrainian air defenses had shot down or suppressed 172 Shahed, Gerbera and other types of Russian drones, according to preliminary data.
Russian air attack weapons were recorded hitting 13 locations, while debris from downed drones fell at three other locations. The Air Force said the attack was still ongoing, with around 10 Russian drones remaining in Ukrainian airspace at the time of the report.
