On the night of February 21, Russia attacked Ukraine with an Iskander-M ballistic missile and 120 strike drones from multiple directions. Ukrainian air defense forces managed to shoot down most of the enemy targets.
This was reported by the Ukrainian Air Force’s Telegram channel.
Details of the attack
According to the military, from 18:00 on February 20 until the morning of February 21, Russia launched one Iskander-M ballistic missile from Voronezh region (Russia), as well as 120 strike drones of the Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas types, and other unmanned aerial vehicles from directions including Bryansk, Kursk, Oryol, Shatalovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russia), and Hvardiiske (temporarily occupied Crimea).
Approximately 80 of the drones were Shaheds. The air assault was countered by aviation units, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, UAV systems, and mobile strike groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
As of 08:30, Ukrainian air defense had reportedly shot down or suppressed 106 enemy drones of the Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas types, and other UAVs across northern, southern, and eastern Ukraine.
Hits were confirmed from the ballistic missile and 13 strike drones at 11 locations, while debris from downed drones fell in 8 locations.
“The attack continues, with several enemy drones still in the airspace. Follow safety rules!” the Air Force warned.
Other attacks in Ukraine
On the night of February 21, Russia again targeted Odesa with strike drones. Initial reports indicate damage to city infrastructure and several residential buildings.
Russian forces also carried out an airstrike on a private residential area in Sumy, injuring three people, including two children.
Earlier, on February 20, Zaporizhzhia was attacked, with a strike hitting one of the city’s gas stations. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, and there were no casualties.
