Russian forces launched an overnight attack on Ukraine using anti-ship and ballistic missiles as well as 188 attack drones, with the Kyiv region identified as the main direction of the assault, according to Ukraine’s Air Force.
The attack involved Zircon and Oniks anti-ship missiles launched from Russia’s Kursk region, Iskander-M and S-400 ballistic missiles from the Voronezh and Bryansk regions, as well as Shahed drones, including 86 jet-powered variants, Gerbera drones and Parodiya decoys.
Ukrainian aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces were involved in repelling the attack.
According to preliminary data, by 8 a.m. Ukrainian air defenses had destroyed or suppressed 160 aerial targets, including five missiles and 155 Shahed, Gerbera and other drones.
Strikes by Russian air attack weapons were recorded at 18 locations.
Several Russian drones were still in Ukrainian airspace in the morning, the Air Force said, urging civilians to follow safety rules and remain in shelters during air-raid alerts.
