A Russian drone attack damaged a business center in Odesa early on October 1, causing a fire and injuring one person, Ukraine’s State Emergency Service said.
The strike damaged the roof and facades of two buildings at the business center, while the blast wave shattered windows. Part of the walls on the fifth floor collapsed, and a fire broke out at the site.
More than 20 emergency workers were involved in extinguishing the fire and preventing it from spreading.
According to Ukraine’s Air Force, Russia attacked Ukraine overnight with 107 Shahed-type attack drones, Gerbera drones and Parodiya decoys. Sixty-three of the Shaheds were jet-powered. By 8 a.m., Ukrainian air defenses had shot down or suppressed 87 drones.
The attack was launched from several directions, including Russia’s Orel, Millerovo, Bryansk and Shatalovo, as well as temporarily occupied parts of Donetsk region and Crimea.
The Air Force said Russian air attack weapons struck 11 locations, while debris from downed targets fell at four locations. Several drones remained in Ukrainian airspace as of 8 a.m.
The overnight attack also targeted Kyiv, where Russian strikes caused damage to buildings and infrastructure. Reuters reported that air strikes on Kyiv and Odesa on October 1 injured two people in total, one in each city.
