Izmail was under attack.
On the night of Sunday, January 18, Russian forces attacked the energy infrastructure in the south of Odesa region with strike drones, Odesa Regional Military Administration Head Oleh Kiper reported.
“As a result of the strikes, a fire broke out at an energy infrastructure facility. A production building and company property were damaged,” he wrote.
According to preliminary information, there were no fatalities or injuries.
The State Emergency Service of Ukraine stated that the attack caused a fire, which firefighters promptly extinguished. Relevant services continue to operate at the site. The Izmail District State Administration also confirmed overnight that critical infrastructure in the Izmail district had been targeted.
According to the Security Service of Ukraine, as of the end of this week and since the start of the heating season, Russia has carried out 256 air attacks on Ukraine’s energy facilities and heating systems, including strikes on 11 hydroelectric power plants and 45 combined heat and power plants across the country.
