Emergency power outages were introduced in Kyiv and the Kyiv, Chernihiv and Zhytomyr regions on September 30 following Russian strikes on energy infrastructure, Ukraine’s Energy Ministry said.
“Due to numerous enemy attacks on the energy infrastructure of Kyiv, Kyiv, Chernihiv and Zhytomyr regions, emergency power outages have been introduced,” the ministry said.
Emergency repair and restoration work is underway, with energy workers working to restore stable electricity supplies as quickly as possible. The restrictions will be lifted once the situation in the power system stabilizes, the ministry said.
In Zhytomyr region, Zhytomyroblenergo introduced emergency outages and urged residents to disconnect equipment that could be damaged by voltage fluctuations.
Power disruptions also temporarily affected Zhytomyrvodokanal facilities. The utility said its specialists were gradually connecting generators at water supply and sewage pumping stations to keep pumping equipment operating and restore stable water and wastewater services.
The acting head of the Borshchahivska community, Oleksandr Medvid, also reported partial power outages in some areas of the community. According to preliminary information, the disruptions were linked to the consequences of the Russian attack and damage to power networks outside the community.
Residents were urged to follow updates from their local electricity distribution operator and use electricity sparingly where power remains available.
