US President Donald Trump has warned China of “serious consequences” if it proceeds with plans to supply weapons to Iran, amid intelligence reports suggesting potential deliveries in the coming weeks.

According to CNN, Beijing is allegedly preparing to provide Tehran with new air defense systems, including portable surface-to-air missile systems (MANPADS), which could pose a threat to low-flying military aircraft. Three sources familiar with intelligence assessments said the shipments could take place within weeks, as Iran seeks to replenish its arsenal during a lull in hostilities.

China has denied the accusations, with a spokesperson for its embassy in Washington stating that Beijing “has never supplied weapons to any party in the conflict.” Trump is expected to visit China next month, where he will meet with Chinese leader Xi Jinping.

Meanwhile, tensions around the Strait of Hormuz remain high. Talks between the US and Iran in Islamabad have stalled over control of the waterway, with Tehran insisting on maintaining authority and charging transit fees.

At the same time, Washington has announced the start of demining operations in the strait, and US Navy vessels have reportedly transited the area. In parallel, Israel says its military campaign against Iran is ongoing, claiming significant progress in countering Iranian threats.
