Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that, in accordance with a ceasefire agreement in Lebanon, the Strait of Hormuz has been reopened for commercial shipping.
In a post on X, Araghchi stated that all commercial vessels are allowed to pass through the strait during the ceasefire period along an agreed route, as coordinated by the Ports and Maritime Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran. He added that the arrangement will remain in effect for the duration of the truce.
The announcement comes after U.S. President Donald Trump declared a 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon. Media reports noted that the move is seen as a key effort to reduce regional tensions and strengthen diplomatic channels between Washington and Tehran.
