U.S. President Donald Trump has announced a 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, presenting it as a key step to reduce regional tensions and preserve diplomatic understandings between Washington and Iran, according to Bloomberg.

Fighting in southern Lebanon had intensified in recent weeks, as Israeli forces targeted infrastructure linked to Hezbollah. The escalation threatened to derail a fragile earlier truce connected to U.S.–Iran negotiations. Trump said the ceasefire is intended to prevent a broader regional war that could impact global energy markets.

The ceasefire is set to begin at 5:00 p.m. New York time (midnight in Kyiv). Trump said he held talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Lebanese counterpart Joseph Aoun. He also tasked Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Joint Chiefs Chairman Dan Caine with coordinating follow-up efforts.

Despite the announcement, neither Israel nor Lebanon has officially confirmed the ceasefire. Analysts note the situation remains fragile, especially since Hezbollah—one of the main actors in the conflict—was not explicitly mentioned in Trump’s statement.
