U.S. President Donald Trump announced the completion of the operation against Iran.
Fox News journalist Maria Bartiromo said after an interview with Trump that the U.S. president confirmed the operation against Tehran had ended.
“I just spoke with the president. It was a great interview. He talked a lot about the economy, the war with Iran, and NATO. I’ll highlight one of his remarks separately.
I told him: ‘Mr. President, you keep talking about this war as if it’s already in the past.’
I asked: ‘Is it already over?’
He replied: ‘It’s over,’” Bartiromo said.
At the same time, the head of Israel’s intelligence agency Mossad, David Barnea, stated on Tuesday that despite the large-scale five-week military campaign by the U.S. and Israel against Iran, the mission is not yet complete. Israel will continue covert operations aimed at regime change in Iran.
On February 28, 2026, Israel and the United States launched a joint attack using missiles, aircraft, and drones against Iran. In Israel, the operation was codenamed “Roaring Lion,” while in the United States it was called “Epic Fury.”
During the operation, a number of high-ranking Iranian officials and Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei were reportedly eliminated. Trump repeatedly claimed that Iran’s military potential had been completely destroyed.
In response, Tehran launched dozens of ballistic missiles across the Middle East. Immediately after the operation began, Iran blocked the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global oil transportation. The blockade negatively affected global energy stability and fuel prices.
Despite calls from Trump, NATO allies did not intervene to unblock the strait, which angered the U.S. leader. He even stated that he was considering withdrawing the United States from the NATO.
After Iran and the U.S. agreed to at least a two-week ceasefire, Iran decided to charge vessels seeking to use the strait. However, Tehran cannot fully reopen it, as it is currently unable to clear mines.
