The Kremlin claims that territorial disputes between Ukraine and Russia come down to “just a few kilometers,” according to Dmitry Peskov, as cited by Russian media.
Peskov also said that a lasting peace could be achieved as early as today, but only if Volodymyr Zelenskyy makes certain decisions. He added that Russia’s military campaign would continue until such steps are taken.
He described the so-called Easter ceasefire announced by Vladimir Putin as a “humanitarian gesture,” noting that Easter is observed by both Russians and Ukrainians.
Despite several rounds of talks this year involving Ukraine, Russia, and the United States, no agreement on a ceasefire has been reached. Moscow continues to demand control over non-occupied parts of Donbas, a condition Kyiv has firmly rejected.
Zelenskyy has ruled out any territorial concessions, stressing that Ukraine will not trade parts of Donbas for other regions and expressing confidence that Ukrainian forces will eventually push Russian troops out of occupied border areas.
