On the night of April 17, Russia attacked Ukraine with a ballistic missile Iskander-M and 172 strike drones. Ukrainian air defense managed to shoot down most of the enemy drones.
This was reported on the Telegram channel of the Ukrainian Air Force.
From 18:00 on April 16 to the morning of April 17, Russian forces launched one Iskander-M missile from temporarily occupied Crimea, as well as 172 strike drones of types Shahed, “Gerbera”, “Italmas”, and other unmanned aerial vehicles from several directions: Bryansk, Kursk, Orel, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, and Hvardiiske in occupied Crimea.
About 120 of the launched drones were Shaheds.
The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare (EW) units, unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
According to preliminary data as of 08:00, air defense shot down or suppressed 147 enemy drones of various types across northern, southern, and eastern Ukraine.
There were confirmed impacts of the ballistic missile and 20 strike drones at eight locations, as well as falling debris from intercepted targets at four additional locations.
“The attack is ongoing, and several enemy UAVs remain in Ukrainian airspace. Follow safety rules,” the Air Force warned.
