In the night of April 18, Russia attacked Ukraine with 219 strike drones launched from seven directions. Ukrainian air defense forces managed to shoot down most of the enemy UAVs, according to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Telegram.
From evening until morning, Russia launched drones of Shahed, “Gerbera,” “Italmas,” and other types from the directions of Shatalovo, Bryansk, Kursk, Oryol, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russia), and Chauda in temporarily occupied Crimea.
About 150 of the drones were Shahed-type UAVs.
The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare (EW) systems, drone units, and mobile fire groups of Ukraine’s Defense Forces.
According to preliminary data as of 08:30, air defense forces shot down or suppressed 190 enemy drones across the north, south, and east of the country.
At the same time, 28 strike drones hit 17 locations, and debris from downed UAVs fell at 9 additional sites.
“The attack is ongoing, several enemy drones remain in the airspace. Follow safety rules,” the Air Force warned.
Attacks on Ukraine
On the night of April 18, Russian forces struck a key energy facility in the Nizhyn district of the Chernihiv region, leaving 380,000 consumers without electricity.
In addition, Russian forces hit a private residential building in Bohodukhiv, Kharkiv region, with a drone.
That same night, drone strikes also targeted residential areas in Zaporizhzhia, causing fires and leaving at least one person injured.
Russia also carried out a targeted strike on port infrastructure and logistics facilities in the Odesa region, causing damage, fire, and injuries.
