Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, announced that Ukraine will launch offensive operations, stressing that victory cannot be achieved through defense alone.

In an interview with LB.ua, Syrskyi noted that Russia’s overall plans for 2026 remain unchanged. The enemy continues to target the entire territory of Ukraine and is adhering to its strategy.

“All directions of offensive action remain the same; only the timing, the amount of equipment, and personnel are changing. Everything else stays as planned,” the commander said. He emphasized that Ukraine will continue defensive efforts while also conducting offensive operations.

“We will carry out a strategic defensive operation, but we understand that you cannot achieve victory in defense alone. Therefore, we will conduct offensive operations to retain operational initiative,” Syrskyi stated.

He explained that this approach forces Russian forces to constantly redeploy personnel, weapons, and ammunition to counter Ukraine’s active operations.
