Russia plans to sharply expand its drone production capacity in order to launch up to 1,000 drones per day against Ukraine as early as 2026, according to Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi.
Speaking in an interview with LB.ua, Syrskyi said Ukraine sees no signs that Russia is preparing for peace talks or de-escalation on the battlefield.
“On the contrary, we see an increase in the intensity of combat operations, the expansion of enemy offensive groupings, and a rise in the production of strike weapons — missiles and drones,” he said. “At present, the enemy produces around 404 Shahed-type drones of various models per day, and plans to further increase this number.”
When asked to clarify the scale of the planned expansion, Syrskyi stated that Russia intends to reach the capability of launching up to 1,000 drones daily.
“The enemy plans to significantly boost production in order to use up to 1,000 drones per day. Therefore, we must do everything possible to disrupt these plans, inflict losses that force Russia to abandon active operations, and create conditions for negotiations. No one negotiates with the weak,” he emphasized.
Earlier reports indicated that Russia was capable of producing about 30,000 Shahed-type drones annually, with the potential to double output by 2026, as drone production has become a state priority for the Kremlin.
