During the night of January 15 (starting from 7:00 p.m. on January 14), Russian forces launched a large-scale drone attack against Ukraine, deploying a total of 82 strike unmanned aerial vehicles, including Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas drones, and other UAV types, the Ukrainian Air Force reported on Telegram.
The drones were launched from several directions: Kursk, Oryol, Bryansk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, and Millerovo in Russia, as well as Hvardiiske in the temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea and temporarily occupied Donetsk.
About 60 of the UAVs used in the attack were Shahed-type drones, including jet-powered variants. The aerial assault was repelled by Ukrainian aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces.
According to preliminary data as of 8:30 a.m., Ukrainian air defense neutralized 61 enemy UAVs. At the same time, 21 strike drones hit targets at 13 locations, while debris from downed UAVs fell at three other locations.
The attack is ongoing, with several enemy drones still present in Ukrainian airspace. The Air Force urges citizens to follow safety guidelines.
