Due to a Russian drone attack, Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions have been hit with large-scale emergency power outages, leaving much of both regions without electricity.
Head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Administration Mykola Lukashuk said there are currently no forecasts for restoring power. He urged residents to stock up on water, particularly in the Pavlohrad and Synelnykove districts, where critical infrastructure has also lost power.
In Dnipro, the blackout halted metro operations. Volunteers reported that metro staff escorted passengers out of tunnels, and escalators are currently not functioning. Energy operator DTEK stated that repair crews will begin restoration work as soon as the air-raid alert ends and it is safe to proceed.
Zaporizhzhia region is also experiencing major disruptions to mobile communications, which are operating in emergency mode. Cellular towers have switched to battery backup, which can support connectivity for around eight hours. Operators and local authorities are deploying generators to maintain service, but residents are asked to limit phone usage to essential needs, use national roaming and internet messengers when possible, and expect potential service degradation due to network overload.
Authorities are calling on residents to remain calm, follow official updates, and use “Points of Invincibility” for water access and device charging.
