Five killed, around fifty injured: shocking toll of the overnight attack on Kyiv

A combined Russian overnight attack on Kyiv on April 16 turned out to be more масштабний than previously reported. According to updated data, at least five civilians were killed and the number of injured has risen to 45.

This was reported by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.

Podilskyi district

There were strikes at several locations. Two people, including a 12-year-old child, were pulled from under the rubble of a building.

Facades of two hotels and nearby residential buildings were damaged.

Rescuers managed to pull two people from the debris of a one-story house. Meanwhile, about ten residents were evacuated from a 16-story building after debris hit the sixth floor.

Later in the morning, a Russian drone flying at low altitude struck an 18-story residential building, Klitschko added.

Obolonskyi district

In Obolon, parked cars were burned as a result of the attack. A warehouse building, a tire service station, and a shop were also damaged.

Two people were killed at the scene. Among the injured were four emergency medical workers and two police officers who arrived after the first explosions.

Desnianskyi and Shevchenkivskyi districts

A two-story residential building caught fire in the Desnianskyi district, but no casualties were reported there.

In the Shevchenkivskyi district, a Russian missile exploded on a playground and near a residential building. No one was injured.
