Russian forces launched more than a hundred strike drones at Ukraine overnight. Most enemy targets were neutralized by air defense forces, but there were also hits.
This was reported by the Ukrainian Air Force on Telegram.
“On the night of April 7, the enemy attacked with 110 strike UAVs of the Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas types and other drones from the directions of Bryansk, Oryol, Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russia), Hvardiiske, Chauda (temporarily occupied Crimea), and the temporarily occupied Donetsk region. About 70 of them were Shaheds,” the Air Force said.
It is noted that the air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of Ukraine’s Defense Forces. According to preliminary data as of 08:00, air defense shot down or suppressed 77 enemy UAVs across the north, south, and east of the country.
At the same time, 31 strike drones hit targets at 14 locations, while debris from downed drones was recorded at nine locations.
“The attack is ongoing, enemy UAVs remain in the airspace. Follow safety rules,” the Air Force added.
Earlier, it was reported that Ukraine would receive high-tech Tridon Mk2 air defense systems from Sweden to help counter Shahed drones and other aerial threats.
In addition, Ukraine’s Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov previously announced the deployment of short-range RapidRanger air defense systems in the country.
Ukraine is also preparing requests to the United States and Middle Eastern countries for THAAD air defense systems, which could become an effective tool against guided aerial bombs.
