Russian occupiers have advanced near Yampil, Katerynivka, as well as in Toretsk and Shcherbynivka in Donetsk Oblast, the analytical portal DeepState reported on Monday, 24 November.
Analysts had previously reported Russian movements in Shcherbynivka on 19 November. On 20 November, Ukraine’s General Staff noted ongoing search-and-strike operations by Ukrainian forces in Yampil. On 23 November, DeepState reported Russian advances near Pokrovsk city and the village of Dachenke in the Pokrovsk urban community.
According to DeepState maps, as of 23 November, compared with the morning of 22 November, Russian-controlled areas on the Pokrovsk axis increased by 4.09 sq km, while the “gray zone” shrank by 1.32 sq km, Interfax-Ukraine reported.
The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) noted in its 23 November report that Russian forces are unlikely to capture all of Donetsk Oblast quickly. Analysts said that a Russian victory is not inevitable, and “on-the-ground realities” indicate that the occupiers face numerous difficulties in attempting to seize the rest of the region.
