Russia's overnight assault on Kyiv was one of the largest ballistic missile attacks on the Ukrainian capital, though not the biggest since the start of the full-scale invasion, Ukrainian Air Force spokesperson Yurii Ihnat said.

Ihnat pushed back against claims circulating on social media that the July 19 strike was the largest ballistic attack on Kyiv. He said it was "one of the largest" but noted that the capital had already endured three similarly massive attacks over the previous 35 days.

According to Ihnat, the previous large-scale assaults took place on June 15, July 2 and July 6, involving comparable numbers of ballistic missiles, dozens of cruise missiles of various types and large waves of drones.

Russia launched 41 missiles and 125 attack drones against Ukraine overnight, with Kyiv as the primary target. Ukrainian air defenses intercepted most of the incoming weapons, including nearly all of the ballistic missiles, although several strikes hit the capital.

The attack killed one person and injured 15 others, while fires and damage were reported across several districts of Kyiv.
