Overnight on 13 January, Ukraine launched missile strikes on a drone manufacturing plant in Taganrog, Rostov region, as well as against several Russian military targets in temporarily occupied territories, Ukraine’s General Staff reported on Telegram.
According to the military, as part of efforts to reduce Russia’s offensive capabilities, Ukrainian forces used domestically produced missiles to hit the Atlant Aero enterprise in Taganrog. The plant designs, manufactures and tests Molniya strike-reconnaissance drones and produces components for Orion UAVs. The strike is expected to significantly reduce Russia’s drone production capacity, thereby limiting its ability to attack civilian infrastructure in Ukraine. Explosions and a fire were recorded at the site; damage assessment is ongoing.
The Security Service of Ukraine later clarified that the strike on the Taganrog facility was carried out by the SBU’s “Alpha” Special Operations Center together with Ukrainian Naval Forces units. The agency stressed that halting such production directly decreases Russia’s strike potential, noting that “every shutdown production line means hundreds of drones that will not attack Ukrainian cities.”
Ukrainian forces also hit several Russian targets in occupied territories. In Zaporizhzhia region, strikes destroyed a Tor air defense system near Chereshneve, a Tunguska system near Podsporya, a P-18-2 “Prima” radar near Lozuvatka, and concentrations of Russian personnel near Lyubymivka. In Donetsk region, a Russian ammunition depot and troop concentration were struck near Makiivka, along with another Tor system near Sonyachne. Results are being verified.
The Defense Forces stated that systematic efforts to degrade Russia’s military and economic potential continue.
Taganrog previously came under Ukrainian attack, including in November 2025, when strikes hit the Beriev aviation plant, destroying two experimental Russian aircraft, and in June last year, when explosions were also reported near Atlant Aero.
