Russian forces attacked Ukraine overnight on June 3 with 198 strike and decoy drones launched from several directions, including Bryansk, Kursk, Millerovo, Oryol, Primorsko-Akhtarsk and occupied Crimea, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
Air defense units, fighter aircraft, electronic warfare systems, drone-defense units and mobile fire groups were involved in repelling the attack.
Preliminary data indicate that Ukrainian defenders destroyed or suppressed 189 enemy drones, including Shahed-type UAVs as well as Gerbera, Italmas and other unmanned aerial vehicles.
Despite the high interception rate, impacts were recorded. The Air Force reported hits by eight attack drones at seven locations, while debris from downed targets fell in seven other areas.
Military officials warned that the attack was still ongoing in the morning, with enemy drones remaining in Ukrainian airspace, and urged residents to continue following air-raid alerts and safety instructions.
The latest assault comes a day after Russia launched one of its largest combined attacks of the war, firing around 70 missiles and nearly 700 drones at targets across Ukraine. While most aerial threats were intercepted, multiple ballistic missiles reached their targets, causing casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure.
