Chief of Ukraine’s military intelligence, Kyrylo Budanov, has confirmed that Ukraine is working toward ending active hostilities before the onset of winter.
According to Budanov, achieving this objective will depend on a combination of military, diplomatic, economic, and political factors. His comments align with recent statements from Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who has described the period before winter as a potential window of opportunity for negotiations and efforts aimed at bringing the war to an end.
Budanov emphasized that the situation on the battlefield remains dynamic and that any prospects for ending the fighting will depend on developments at the front, the effectiveness of international pressure on Russia, and continued support for Ukraine.
His remarks come amid broader discussions among Ukrainian officials about the coming months being critical for shaping the conditions under which future negotiations or conflict-resolution efforts could take place.
