President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has warned that Russian forces may launch another major strike against Ukraine in the near future, urging citizens not to ignore air-raid alerts.
“A massive strike may be coming. The Russians have prepared it,” Zelensky said in his evening address.
The president stressed that Ukraine’s air defense forces remain on duty around the clock and are prepared to respond to potential attacks.
“Our sky defenders are ready 24/7, to the extent possible with the resources currently available,” he said.
Zelensky also called on Ukrainians to follow safety guidelines and immediately seek shelter whenever air-raid sirens are activated.
The warning comes after a series of large-scale Russian aerial assaults in late May. On May 24, Russia reportedly launched 690 air attack weapons, including ballistic and cruise missiles as well as hundreds of drones, with Kyiv being the primary target. Several days later, on May 31, Russian forces launched 229 drones, including Shahed strike drones and decoy UAVs.
According to reports cited by Le Monde, Russia launched a record 8,150 drones against Ukraine in May, a 24% increase compared with April. Ukrainian authorities said air defenses intercepted approximately 91% of incoming drones and missiles during the month.
