A forensic examination of debris recovered after a drone strike on a residential building in the Romanian city of Galați on May 29 has confirmed that the aircraft was a Russian-made Geran-2 drone, Romanian President Nicușor Dan said on X.

According to the Romanian leader, investigators found the Cyrillic inscription “Geran-2” on the wreckage. Experts also analyzed the drone’s electronic components, navigation systems, control modules, engine, and structural elements.

“The recovered components showed similarities — up to complete identity — with those found in other Geran-2 drones previously discovered in Romania and confidently identified as being manufactured in the Russian Federation,” Dan stated.

The findings were based on a technical examination of the debris collected after the drone impacted a residential building in Galați, providing further evidence linking the aircraft to the Russian-made Geran-2 unmanned aerial vehicle.
