Russian forces launched a large-scale drone attack on the Shostka community in Ukraine’s Sumy region overnight on May 30, causing damage to civilian infrastructure, according to Sumy Regional Military Administration head Oleh Hryhorov.
Some of the drones were intercepted by Ukrainian air defenses, but several strikes still reached their targets.
“Preliminarily, there are no fatalities or injuries. However, civilian infrastructure was damaged, including residential and non-residential buildings, administrative facilities, and vehicles,” Hryhorov said on Telegram.
He added that emergency and utility crews have been working at the strike sites since the night to deal with the aftermath of the attack. Authorities are providing assistance to local residents while specialists continue assessing the full extent of the damage.
Meanwhile, in the Poltava region, debris and direct impacts from Russian drones were recorded in several locations across the Poltava district. According to Poltava Regional Military Administration head Vitalii Diachuk, the attack damaged private homes, a medical clinic, outbuildings, vehicles, and power lines.
“Fires that broke out following the attack were quickly extinguished by emergency services. At this time, two people are known to have been injured and received medical assistance at the scene,” the administration said.
The latest strikes follow another Russian drone attack on May 28 targeting the Kovpakivskyi district of Sumy and nearby communities. That attack damaged a gas station service building, a post office, private homes, and a summer kitchen.
