Russia experienced another overnight drone attack on May 30, with reports of a tanker fire in Taganrog and a possible strike on an oil storage facility in Armavir, according to Russian Telegram channels.
Local media in Taganrog, located in Russia’s Rostov region, began reporting a drone threat shortly after 1:00 a.m. The warnings remained in place throughout the night and into the early morning hours.
After 3:45 a.m., videos and photos from the city began circulating online. Open-source intelligence (OSINT) channels reported that residents had heard numerous explosions, particularly in the area of Taganrog Bay and near the city’s aviation plant.
Later in the morning, Rostov Region Governor Yury Slyusar confirmed that the city had been attacked and described the consequences.
“As a result of the UAV attack, a tanker, a fuel storage tank, and an administrative building caught fire on the territory of the port in Taganrog. According to preliminary information, there are no casualties,” he wrote on Telegram.
Meanwhile, residents of Armavir in Russia’s Krasnodar region also reported explosions overnight. Details remain limited, but OSINT sources suggested that the target may have been an oil depot belonging to the Southern Oil Company.
Explosions were also reported in occupied Crimea. Some monitoring channels claimed that an oil storage facility in Feodosia may have been targeted, although those reports have not been independently confirmed.
Taganrog has previously been targeted during the war. On April 19, Russian sources reported a missile attack that caused a fire at an industrial facility in the city. Several days later, Ukraine’s General Staff stated that Ukrainian forces had struck the Atlant Aero plant with Neptune missiles, reportedly damaging or destroying multiple production facilities involved in drone manufacturing.
The same facility was also reportedly targeted in another Ukrainian strike on May 13.
