The Russian military command has set a new “deadline” for capturing the city of Kostiantynivka, aiming to seize it by April 25, according to Ukrainian officials.
Dmytro Zaporozhets, spokesperson for Ukraine’s 11th Army Corps, described this timeline as unrealistic. He said Russian forces are currently using small infantry groups to infiltrate the area, hiding in buildings and attempting to build up forces inside the settlement.
According to him, even if Russia intensifies assaults and commits maximum resources, any potential success would not come before October.
Zaporozhets also noted that Russian troops are preparing a multi-wave assault strategy:
- first using motorcycles
- then cars and buggies
- followed by armored vehicles
The likely plan is to secure positions on the outskirts of the city before launching urban combat operations.
Meanwhile, analysts report that the situation around Kostiantynivka is becoming more dynamic. Russian forces are avoiding direct frontal assaults on the city and instead probing defenses from multiple directions.
