Late on May 25, Russian forces launched a combined attack on Odesa, causing damage to infrastructure facilities, injuring several people, and killing one victim.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, a ballistic missile threat from the south was detected at around 10:05 p.m. Shortly afterward, military officials tracked a high-speed target heading toward the Odesa region, and explosions were heard in the city. Later, regional authorities clarified that the attack was combined and included the use of drones.
About an hour after the strike, officials released the first details about the consequences. Head of the Odesa City Military Administration Serhii Lysak said an infrastructure facility in one of the city’s districts had been damaged. The blast wave also shattered windows in an educational institution and nearby residential buildings.
Authorities initially reported two injured people, but the number later rose to four.
“The number of injured has increased to four. Unfortunately, one of them has died. Doctors fought for his life until the very end, but the injuries were incompatible with life,” Lysak said.
According to local officials, specialists are currently assessing the extent of the damage.
Russia has repeatedly targeted Odesa with missile and drone strikes throughout the war. Earlier attacks damaged residential areas, apartment buildings, dormitories, and civilian infrastructure, causing casualties and destruction across the city.
