On Wednesday afternoon, May 27, Russian forces launched a massive drone strike on the Odesa district using Shahed attack drones. According to the head of the regional administration, Oleh Kiper, the attack damaged a grocery store, apartment buildings, and a Nova Poshta branch. Several cars also caught fire in a parking area following the strikes.
Preliminary reports indicate that four people were injured and are currently receiving medical assistance. Authorities are still assessing the full extent of the damage and the final number of casualties.
Ukraine’s Air Force earlier warned about Shahed drones approaching Odesa from the Black Sea, adding that there remains a threat of repeated attacks on the region.
The strike comes a day after Russia carried out a combined attack on Odesa, which killed one person and injured three others.
