President Volodymyr Zelensky has urged Ukrainians to remain vigilant and respond to air raid warnings, saying intelligence reports about a possible large-scale Russian attack remain valid.
In his evening address, Zelensky noted that international partners had raised the issue with Russia, but said there was little reason to believe Moscow would change its course.
“It is important to stay alert throughout the day, pay attention to any threats, and respond to air raid warnings. Intelligence information regarding the possibility of a massive strike remains relevant. Our partners have spoken with the Russians about this, but there is no belief that anyone in Moscow will suddenly come to their senses. Please protect your lives and react to threats,” he said.
The president added that Ukraine’s air defense forces, mobile fire groups, and combat aviation remain on high alert and are operating at maximum readiness given available resources.
Zelensky also highlighted the effectiveness of Ukraine’s air defenses against drones, saying Ukrainian forces consistently intercept more than 90% of incoming Shahed drones, with interception rates ranging between 90% and 93%.
At the same time, he stressed that Ukraine continues to work with international partners to strengthen protection against cruise and ballistic missiles, including efforts to secure additional interceptor missiles through international defense initiatives.
The warning follows intelligence assessments suggesting that Russia may be preparing another large-scale attack. Ukraine’s Defense Ministry has also urged citizens not to ignore air raid alerts on May 30–31, particularly in Kyiv, where public events are expected to draw larger crowds.
