Ukraine’s Defense Forces neutralized more than 220 Russian drones during a large-scale overnight attack on May 31, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
Russia launched a total of 229 attack drones, including Shahed, Gerbera, Iltalmas, and other UAV types, from multiple directions. Ukrainian aviation, air defense missile units, electronic warfare teams, drone operators, and mobile fire groups were involved in repelling the assault.
As of 8:30 a.m., Ukrainian forces had shot down or suppressed 221 drones. However, authorities confirmed that 14 strike drones reached their targets across 11 locations, while debris from intercepted UAVs fell at five additional sites.
The attack was still ongoing in the morning, with hostile drones continuing to be detected over northern Ukraine. Air raid threats remained active in the Rivne, Zhytomyr, Sumy, Kyiv, Chernihiv, and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
