Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky discussed possible timelines for the end of the “hot phase” of the war during a meeting with the parliamentary faction “Servant of the People,” according to MP Olha Vasylevska-Smahliuk.
She said that a significant part of the meeting focused on prospects for ending active hostilities.
“By November, the possibility is being considered — provided security guarantees are in place — to end the ‘hot phase.’ We currently have an advantage on the front that can be used. The main goal is not to allow Russia to deceive us and restart hostilities after a short pause,” the MP said.
She also noted that Ukraine is currently waiting for Europe to appoint its representative for potential peace negotiations, and that a US delegation is expected to visit Ukraine soon.
According to her, the meeting also addressed Ukraine’s EU integration process. Zelensky reportedly stated that Ukraine has fulfilled all requirements to open all negotiation clusters, which are expected to be launched by summer. He also rejected the idea of associate EU membership without voting rights or economic integration, saying it would not meet Ukrainians’ expectations of fairness.
The Ukrainian president recently stated in his evening address that Ukraine has stabilized the front line, crediting this to personnel, drones, technological solutions, and long-range strikes on Russian energy infrastructure.
Meanwhile, Estonia’s intelligence has suggested a potential turning point in the war, while Financial Times reports that Russian command has promised Vladimir Putin the capture of the entire Donbas region by autumn.
