Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out a series of successful long-range strikes against military and energy infrastructure inside Russia, including an oil refinery in Saratov and several other strategic targets, President Volodymyr Zelensky said.
According to Zelensky, Ukrainian forces struck the Saratov oil refinery, located roughly 700 kilometers from the frontline, as part of what he described as Ukraine’s long-range campaign against facilities supporting Russia’s war effort.
Additional successful strikes were reported in Russia’s Rostov and Kirov regions, as well as against a military deployment site near the Caspian Sea.
“Our Defense Forces are carrying out long-range missions according to approved priorities. This is an important result. Thank you,” Zelensky said.
The president also summarized recent operations, noting that Ukrainian forces had reached targets in the Yaroslavl, Ryazan, Voronezh, Volgograd, Rostov, Novgorod, Nizhny Novgorod and Krasnodar regions.
According to Zelensky, the targeted facilities were located between 300 and 1,200 kilometers from Ukraine’s border.
“I thank the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine, and our intelligence agencies,” he added.
Ukraine has increasingly targeted Russia’s oil infrastructure in recent months. On May 30, drones reportedly struck a tanker in Taganrog and an oil depot in Armavir, while another long-range operation targeted a fuel storage facility hundreds of kilometers inside Russian territory.
Earlier, Ukrainian forces also confirmed a successful strike on the Saratov refinery, which is part of the Rosneft network and supplies fuel to Russian military units. A large fire was reported at the facility following the attack.
